ABOUT

Born in a North Carolina sewing factory, the mission of Open Studio Patterns is rooted in bringing the background of its founder’s fashion industry experience into the hands of home sewists. Through designer collaborations and a focus on current trends, we empower makers to elevate their skills, craft handmade wardrobes that rival ready-to-wear, and design with confidence. Our patterns blend modern aesthetics with artful construction and utilitarian function—designed to inspire creativity and stand the test of time.

Jonnie Rettele

Jonnie thinks the best antidote to fast fashion is a really good sewing pattern. With a background spanning the fashion industry and craft-based arts — from running her own menswear brand to textile design and natural dyeing — sewing pattern design was a natural next step. Now she's channeling all of that experience into patterns that make the art of garment making feel totally within reach.
