What pattern level am I?
Beginner - You are just starting to sew, or you just need some simple projects to keep up your habit.
Intermediate - You got all the basics, and want to add some zipper skills and more complex projects.
Advanced - You have been sewing a while, and are ready to up your game.

Do you sell pre-printed paper patterns?

Can I sell items made using patterns by SewCo?
All patterns produced by Open Studio are for personal, single user use only. Patterns may not be duplicated, shared or sold for commercial use. Items made from Open Studio patterns may not be produced for resale.
Can I teach a sewing class using your patterns?
Yes, we would love for you to teach a class with our patterns! Each student will need to buy their own pattern, but we would love to see what you make so be sure to tag wherever you can!

When will more extended sizes be available?
Most of our patterns accommodate sizes XS to XXL (or 0-20). We are currently working to include even more sizes!
Are seam allowances included in your patterns?
Yes, seam allowance is included and will be stated in the pattern instructions.
Download and Assembly
How do I print Open Studio patterns?
There is a PDF file in every download with full TILED printing instructions (for 8.5” x 11” printers) specific to each pattern, but here are some general guidelines:
- Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat here if you don't already have it installed on your home computer.
- Download the PDF and save the file to your computer.
- Layers by size should show up in your Navigation Panel on the left. To print specific sizes, un-click the "eye" icon next to every size EXCEPT the size(s) you wish to print. If you wish to print all "nested" sizes skip this step.
- Start by printing the first page only of the PDF file in order to verify it is printing to proper scale.
- FILE > PRINT to open print dialog box. The printer settings should be the following:
Paper size: US Letter 8.5" x 11"
Orientation: Portrait
Scale: 100%
- Measure the square on the first page and verify that it measures 1" x 1"
- If the square measures correct continue printing all remaining pages. If not, troubleshoot settings.
- Tape together printed pages by tiling numbered rows and lettered columns. Match at notches. Page border lines should sit right on top of each other. Trim along borders as needed.
What if I want to print the pattern on a large format printer or plotter?
Each pattern purchased has a downlaoadable zip file that includes a 8.5” x 11” tiled pattern file, instructions on printing the tiled file, sewing instructions AND a 36” wide large-format pattern. So you get both!
How long will I have access to the download?
You only have 24 HOURS to download the file from the link provided. You will also recieve an email with the download link, but still only have 24 hours to access the file. If you're not ready to print/use, simply save the file to your computer.
How many times can I download the pattern?
The pattern will be available for download once only.
Can I download the pattern to my phone or tablet?
Yes, just save the file to your phone, and then you can print it whenever you are ready!
What if my test square printed and it’s the wrong size?
Verify that you have updated to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat on your home computer. Make sure don’t have any "scaling" setting activated in your print window.
