Our patterns are designed, developed and tested in our own industrial sewing factory,
SEW CO.
For years we have supported independent designers all over the country with design-driven product development and efficient production processes. We have refined details and created work flows for professional, industrial production of all kinds of sewn goods. We’re thrilled to now be sharing our industry skills with our home-sewing allies!
OUR MISSION
Sew Co.’s mission has always been to preserve the skill of sewing. We do this by providing living wage jobs to a team of talented sewers, join forces with our community to train a vibrant workforce, and chose with values-aligned clients to revitalize the American textile industry. Through environmental stewardship, radical financial transparency and creative community placemaking, we are creating a new vision for manufacturing.
Living Wage Certified
Sew Co’s wages have been certified as LIVING WAGES for Asheville, NC by Just Economics, working to educate, advocate, and organize for a just and sustainable economy.
Our region is rich in textile traditions - from early craft movements to the industrial revolution. Globalization in the 1990’s left a gap in our legacy of skill that is now being healed through collective action by our local community. We are founding partners of the Carolina Textile District.
Radical Financial Transparency
We play the Great Game of Business. It’s a fun model that takes open book management to the next level. Every single staff member has total understanding of our financial statements, participation in our financial planning and the empowerment to create solutions that can effect our profitability, which gets shared amongst us all.
Circular Economy
We recycle all our textile waste through our local circular manufacturer Material Return who uses our waste to produce other local textile products like yarn and batting. The textile industry is the #2 producer of waste globally. We refuse to contribute ;)
