Fabric Suggestions

For the best results in maintaining this pattern’s silhouette, choose a medium-weight woven fabric with a crisp hand. Fabrics like cotton twill, linen, wool, seersucker, gabardine, or structured cotton blends will give the box pleats definition and help the skirt maintain its intended silhouette —full at the sweep while staying smooth and fitted at the waist. Softer, fluid fabrics like rayon challis, lightweight chambray, or cotton lawn will create a more relaxed, straight silhouette as the pleats release and the fabric falls closer to the body. For a lighter-weight option that still maintains structure, look for gauzy fabrics with texture.
